Greetings Sponsor,
There is nothing quite like the special bond between a sponsor and sponsored child.
We know that it's difficult to begin a new relationship, particularly with someone far away. That's why, during your third month as a sponsor, we sent you two membership cards — one for you and one for your sponsored child — and a greeting card. We see these as the perfect "getting to know you" opportunities.
If you haven't sent the greeting card to your sponsored child yet, we hope that you will.
There's no need to write anything long or profound. In fact, we find that the best messages, especially for children who are just learning to read, are simple ones. If this is your first letter, you might simply let your sponsored child know a little about your life:
- What state or country you live in.
- The names and ages of your family members.
- What it's like where you live.
Don't forget to ask a few simple questions about him or her, too. This will help your sponsored child begin a reply to your letter even if he or she has never written a letter before!
As always, we ask for your patience in waiting for a response. Many of our sponsorship communities are in remote areas, and often both letters and replies require translation. When children are out of school during the summer months, it may also take a little longer, but believe me, the wait is worth it!
We're so pleased that you’ve joined our sponsorship family and hope that your sponsorship experience will be a long and rewarding one.
Sincerely,

Charles MacCormack President and CEO Save the Children
