Today is World Pneumonia Day: Play
missionpneumonia.org - Save the Children
Dear Friend of Save the Children,

Play Mission Pneumonia- Save the Children
Pneumonia is preventable and treatable; so why does a child die from pneumonia every 15 seconds? What makes community health workers the most powerful force we have against the #1 killer of children under 5? What is Save the Children doing in 40 developing countries and in the halls of Congress to protect children from this life-threatening illness? And what are the most critical actions you can take?

Today is the first World Pneumonia Day, and Save the Children is taking action to protect children from a disease that takes nearly 2 million lives each year. To fight this childhood threat, we're asking you to become an agent of change for children's health. Start your Mission: Pneumonia assignment by going to www.missionpneumonia.org and get the facts about childhood pneumonia and find out what community health workers do every day to fight for children’s lives.

Mission: Pneumonia shows you what it takes to fight pneumonia around the world. As you play, you will have opportunities to make a real world difference by:
  • Recruiting friends, family and colleagues to play mission pneumonia game by sharing on Facebook, Twitter and email with different facts about pneumonia and the obstacles family and community health workers face.

  • Signing our petition to Congress on the Newborn, Child and Mother Survival Act in the House and the Global Child Survival Act of 2009 in the Senate. Show your elected officials that you support expanding the reach of life-saving tools – vaccines, antibiotics and trained health workers – to more mothers and babies in poor countries.

  • Helping to provide the supplies and training Community Health Workers around the world need to help diagnose and fight pneumonia. Give now from our holiday catalog
Our mission doesn't end with World Pneumonia Day, but together we can take steps to save lives.

Regards,

Mary Beth Powers
